Here we go!

EApYaw7WwAA1r4r.jpegI have a friend from college who is a teacher at Marion Pleasant High School.  He teaches Social Studies by day but really what he’s known for is that every Christmas season he appears as Santa Claus at multiple events.  In addition, he decorates his house with so many lights that he is beginning to rival Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation. All winter long he posts on Facebook hoping for snow.  He’s all about the Christmas season and it’s by far his favorite part of the year.

For me today begins my favorite time of the year.  The 2019-2020 school year officially begins in Worthington on August 14th.  Today we welcomed 60 new teachers to Worthington Schools. These teachers will inevitably make a positive difference and some of them will spend their entire career investing in this community.  They’re an amazing group and we’re excited for you to meet them. Fall sports officially kick-off this week and our bands are practicing on the front lawns of our high schools.

There are a million things going on!  This Saturday is our annual “First Time Rider” busing event.  We have a number of summer building projects to wrap-up in the next two weeks.  Parents are receiving mailings and emails with important dates, reminders and forms to complete.  Students are actively looking for new school shoes, backpacks and even a new binder. Ohio has tax free shopping for these items August 2nd – 4th.

For me personally this is the most wonderful time of the year.  We can’t wait to see teachers back in classrooms, students back in school and our buses on the road.  There’s a lot to do over the next several weeks but #ItsWorthIt.

Worthington students start back to school on August 14th & August 15th!

Kindergarten: Staggered start, schools will notify families of the schedule.

Grades 1-9: Wednesday, August 14th

Grades 10-12: Thursday, August 15th
